You will need to learn the basics of how to program a website if you truly want to be successful at creating websites. That does not mean you need to have a degree in computer science, but it will take some time to learn the basics you need to know.

However, if you choose to go through a traditional web host such as BlueHost.com then you are going to need to learn the following:

1. Basic HTML Programming – HTML allows you to create items such as live links as well as many other important details within your webpages.  There is great free resource to learn all about HTML here: Learn Basic HTML
2. Basic FTP Programming – FTP stands for FILE TRANSFER PROTOCOL.  Webmasters use FTP to upload files they will need on their websites to their web host’s server.  The free FTP application I use for some of my websites is: ALFTP
